There was no such thing as just doing what was right anymore. It was a tightrope walk few understood. "National interests" were really corporate interests. Immigration was really about cheap labor for multinational corporations. America's Middle East policy was about cheap oil so that Big Oil could expand their reach and influence without the weak US economy imploding.
